Job Description
The primary purpose of the Chiller Mechanic is to perform skilled technical work in the maintenance, repairs of all types and brands of chillers.
Duties and Accountabilities:
Service and repair commercial and industrial air-conditioning systems according to plans and engineering specifications, using demonstrated knowledge of refrigeration, hydronics and airside theory.
Tear down and rebuild centrifugal, screw, scroll and reciprocating chilled water equipment and micro-processor-based control systems.
Provide service-related information to Service Managers regarding estimates, problems, and customer feedback.
Provide technical support and accurate paperwork to Service Manager and Service Dispatcher.
Troubleshoots malfunctioning chillers to determine the cause of the malfunction
Performs scheduled maintenance inspections, and adjusts, cleans and calibrates various chilled water systems to assure proper system operations
Repairs wiring and electronic components.
Replaces expansion valves, compressors, motors, and other chiller component parts
Cleans refrigerant systems from hermetic burnouts, evacuates, and charges systems
Provides technical assistance with installations and modifications to existing systems
Assists in training other technicians and staff in preventative maintenance of chilled water systems
Prepares records and reports describing procedures, actions taken and recommended solutions
Prepares and submits requests for supplies and equipment
Responds to emergency service requests
May supervise work of other technicians
Follows safety rules/procedures; avoid known hazards in the work environment. Reviews safety procedures before beginning each job with known hazards.
Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle.  Keep vehicle up to date on maintenance requirements. Maintain an accurate part and tool inventory.
Replace defective internal compressor components.

Skills & Requirements
3+ years’ experience assembling and installing HVAC/Refrigeration equipment/machinery
Plan and specifications reading
Strong oral and written communication skills as appropriate for position
Basic understanding of computer technology
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
Requires moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; up to 75 lbs
Requires walking, standing, sitting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, reaching overhead, twisting, turning and driving for the better part of 8 hours
Must be able to use hands with fine motor skills in the use of industry specific tools
Daily travel to client sites required
